Dai Shihan Mark Walker |
Official Martial-ography: Mark Walker sensei has been studying martial arts for over 25 years. He also has 27 years in law enforcement. As an officer / training instructor of the New Jersey State Department of Corrections, Walker sensei has instructed classes on defensive tactics, PR-24, baton, and firearm tactics & techniques. He has also prepared and instructed seminars for law enforcement and elite military units (Navy SEALS and other units in the Special Forces). Walker sensei grew up in the housing projects of inner city Newark, New Jersey. He began training in martial arts (karate) with the late Sammy Adams (Papa Duke) in 1967. Over the years sensei went on to study various other styles of martial arts (Boxing, Wrestling, Kung Fu (Wing Chung & Shaolin Chin Na), and Aikido). Walker sensei is also proficient in the use of weapons (Blow Gun, Katana, Jo, Arnis, Tanto, and Nunchaku). Walker sensei studied these martial arts very diligently, but not until he was introduced to Grandmaster Dr. Moses Powell did he decide to dedicate and focus his life to perfection of martial arts. Dr. Powell's knowledge and true skill amazed and intrigued Walker sensei. This new interest brought out the best (in every regard) in Walker sensei. Walker sensei's dedication, eagerness to learn, and humble ways were soon noticed by Dr. Powell. Through Dr. Powell's teachings, Walker sensei began to develop a profound respect and understanding of martial arts / science. Dr. Powell saw this spark and martial spirit within Walker sensei, and adopted him as his personal student. Walker sensei was also given the distinct honor of managing all Dr. Powell's business affairs. Grandmaster Powell subsequently granted Walker sensei with the first and only Menkyo Kaiden license. Dr. Powell granted this honor with one stern statement, "Don't touch anything that I did, or it will blow up in your face". Walker sensei will continue the legacy and teachings of his great teacher, in the most humble and reverent manner possible. Walker sensei is thus the Dai Shihan of Eye To Eye Jiu Jitsu (the successor of Eye To Eye Jiu Jitsu). Walker Dai Shihan will and has made it his duty to spread the true teachings and principles of the late Dr. Powell. Walker Dai Shihan understands the great responsibility that has been placed upon him, and will continue to walk in the righteous and true martial path, as did his teacher.
